The uncomfortable reality of expanding by the minute...

Image
I am compelled to write this post as I just caught sight of myself in the mirror and Liam (putting on a hoodie from the wash pile) announced we were having a lazy day! He is clearly right as I am wearing an ancient pair of pyjama bottoms and one of his t-shirts and I appreciated his agreement that I would not be getting dressed today. Those of you Cardiff based will know this makes me feel extra guilty because today is the day of the world half marathon in the city and thousands of awesome people are about to start running, raising money for vital charities. If I hear you running past I will cheer from the windows, you are all brilliant!!  After the initial thrill of buying new clothes I have reached a stalemate recently, in that everything is starting to feel very tight! I remember having the conversation with my mum in Mothercare several weeks ago where she encouraged me to buy larger sizes and said "Claire, you will be massive by the end" and I proceeded to buy th

Using Twitter to search for maternity bargains!

Image
I wanted to suggest three reasons why you should use Twitter to search for maternity wear bargains, as this week it’s proven particularly helpful in finding some amazing clothes at rock bottom prices. 1. Find out about events   After my 12 week scan I started following brands such as Mothercare, JoJo Maman Bebe and Mamas and Papas on Twitter, as they post about new stock, outfit and nursery ideas and, more importantly, sale info.  JoJo Maman Bebe are based in Newport and they recently posted that they were having a Warehouse mega sale, and so I popped in yesterday and found some serious bargains!  Everything I bought was either £4 or £5 and so I got three items for baby and three items for me and the total was £27!  I am not sure how often they have the mega sales but they do promote them on social media or you can keep an eye on this page of their website - http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/AFDajax.asp?action=detail&sitename=NEWPRT   Nursery fu

Hunting for a maternity jumpsuit!

Image
Those of you who know me know that I LOVE jumpsuits! They're comfy, a whole outfit in one and if you buy the right one are very flattering.  Unfortunately I have not had much luck in the buying of maternity jumpsuits so far... I have bought these ones: Current ASOS sale - £14 and £19.50 Neither felt or looked particularly flattering and so I have sent them both back.  I quite like this one from Mamalicious (again on the ASOS site), but at £65 it seems a bit steep unless I am going to wear it everyday!  I have decided to order the one that  JoJo Maman Bebe sells The reviews are very positive and it never goes on sale, which makes me think it must be a product they can't sell enough of. The fact the picture is taken on the beach has probably also pushed me over the purchasing edge as I can't resist anything nautical!  I have tried eBay but the dungarees are still going for a significant amount or look very baggy, meaning I wouldn't be able t

More black tie inspiration

Image
I had the opportunity to shop around for more black tie outfits last week as we were heading to a charity ball on Friday, I ended up wearing the jumpsuit I referred to in the previous post (see below, can't believe  I forgot to take a new photo!) but came across some beaut's and some bargains so thought I would share. The more expensive end of the spectrum has some classic pieces on offer if you need an outfit you can wear again and again to formal functions or occasions whilst you're pregnant: Tiffany Rose - £99 Seraphine - £295 Isabella Oliver - £151 At the other end of the scale we have the bargains, and the best place to find these, in my opinion, is ASOS: Isabella Oliver - £45 ASOS - £20 ASOS - £60 Club L - £35 Little Mistress - £65 ASOS - £25 I love the last one but not sure on the bra situation! All of the above are available from ASOS and if you have a premier account you can benefit fro
