The uncomfortable reality of expanding by the minute...

I am compelled to write this post as I just caught sight of myself in the mirror and Liam (putting on a hoodie from the wash pile) announced we were having a lazy day! He is clearly right as I am wearing an ancient pair of pyjama bottoms and one of his t-shirts and I appreciated his agreement that I would not be getting dressed today.

Those of you Cardiff based will know this makes me feel extra guilty because today is the day of the world half marathon in the city and thousands of awesome people are about to start running, raising money for vital charities. If I hear you running past I will cheer from the windows, you are all brilliant!!

After the initial thrill of buying new clothes I have reached a stalemate recently, in that everything is starting to feel very tight! I remember having the conversation with my mum in Mothercare several weeks ago where she encouraged me to buy larger sizes and said "Claire, you will be massive by the end" and I proceeded to buy things in a small or size 10 as I always have done and told her I wasn't ready for any of that kind of talk yet! Several weeks on I am thinking throwing a few mediums on the pile wouldn't have done any harm!

This week I have had to have a few days off the jeans and have turned to my brilliant Primark leggings (£5) with some big t-shirts or dresses over the top, more comfy but still pretty tight so I am likely to go and buy the next size up shortly so that I can keep wearing them until the end.

I bought the dress above from H&M via eBay yonks ago and thought the weather was finally nice to wear it yesterday and struggled to pull it down over my new bajoingas! Comfy once on though so hopefully this will get lots of wear once the sun comes out (£3.99 from eBay).

I can tell that most of the tops I have are going to be fine for the next 3.5 months, it is mainly the bottoms that have started to feel snug and I am still struggling to find jeans that are really comfy and fit as well as the Vertbaudet ones -  even buying the size up hasn't worked :(

I bought a pair of jeans in the JoJo Maman Bebe mega sale last week for £5 so hopefully they will turn out to be a winner - will keep you posted!

To help with the inevitable tightness of my skin stretching to accommodate the little lady I have been trying to remember to use the bio oil - heads up on this, apparently you can get it cheaper in Home Bargains but they keep it behind the till - worth checking out as is pretty expensive full price.

Friends have said their most comfy tops came from New Look and they have had some new items in stock recently, and Topshop leggings seem to be popular as well, but I'm not a frequent Topshop shopper so keep forgetting to look.

Coming back to comfiness, Mothercare have a really nice loungewear range if you want to invest, I also spotted some promising looking 'yoga pants' in Peacocks which I fear I may end up living in once purchased! They aren't specifically maternity but should be fine if you buy a bigger size.

Also loving these from Next:

Reading the more honest bloggers posts suggests there won't be a huge amount getting dressed in the first few weeks after the baby arrives so I am planning on having a massive pile of 'loungewear' to hand!

I've also decided to start keeping my eye out for nursing tops so any ideas please list in the comments.

Whilst I'm here, if you haven't bought your Dream Genie pillow yet, they are on sale in Mamas and Papas at the moment, by far the cheapest I have seen them and they do come with a pillow case included (this is not clear on the packaging). I bought mine on Thursday and have had two wonderful night's sleep!

Happy shopping!
